How often should you clean your gutters in Norfolk and Suffolk?
Most homes need their gutters cleaned once a year, ideally in late autumn. Homes near pine forests or large trees usually need it twice a year.
The once-a-year rule
For a typical home without overhanging trees, one clean a year after the leaves have fallen keeps water flowing through winter, when blocked gutters do the most damage.
When twice a year makes sense
Properties close to Thetford Forest, Brandon or other wooded areas collect pine needles all year round. Needles knit together into a mat that blocks gutters and downpipes, so a spring and autumn clean is safer.
Signs you are overdue
Water spilling over the edge in rain, plants growing out of the gutter, damp patches on walls, or a dripping sound from the eaves all suggest your gutters need attention now rather than later.
